Well, that might be an understatement these days...
It's a cool summer day today compared to most of the country, in the 70's and perfect, such a treat here in the rainy northwest. I have all the windows open in the house, and I'm sitting in my studio, listening to the song of the maple leaves a few yards away swaying in the gentle breeze. heaven. it's the small things, don't you think?
I feel like I'm becoming food obsessed which does often happen to me during havest season. I'm sitting here in my studio writing this, after a morning of all things apple...
lots of early yellow transparents to gather, not good keepers but they do make excellent applesauce (put several bags up in the freezer for that)
yummy apple crisp (more slices frozen for winter crisp and pies)
and plenty of dried apples for the pantry too. In the next month several things will come ripe and demand immediate attention so I've savored this time with my earlies. picking them is even fun
although some would rather sit in the shade
and others play in the sun, then tend to the work of picking fruit.
Does she eat only apples during apple season you may wonder? No, I like other garden goodness as well. Today I whipped this up for quick lunch- fresh steamed zucchini on a bed of pasta with cilantro pesto and red pepper flakes - easy and yummm!
I want to remind everyone that there is still time to put your name "in the hat" for a chance to win a complimentary spot in my online class, just leave a comment here, I'll draw and name and post the winner here tomorrow. My afternoon, starting now, is back to filming, writing and making art for it. I can't wait!

That is absolutely beautiful.

Harvest -- what a joyful time. Those apples look wonderful. Here in Michigan we're blessed with lots of orchards so we go and pick our own, cherries, peaches, apples. How wealthy we feel when we bring all those riches home!

Everything looks wonderful Katie. The oatmeal looks especially delicious since I have been craving it for the last two weeks!

My mouth is watering after that post. What a wonderful colour those apples are. May the rest of your harvest be as colorful and plentiful.
