Layered Impressions Class Ebook DVD - Now Available
I'm so excited to finally offer my very first online class DVD! I've brought together techniques and projects from several of the classes I've taught "live" in workshops over the years, techniques promts from my upcoming book, Layered Impressions; A Poetic Approach to Mixed Media Painting, and some new stuff too. It is jam-packed with information and inspiration.
The actual online class ran for four weeks and during that time, I posted 34 instructional videos, pdfs, photographs, links, and questions and answers. All this material in addition to supply lists and questions asked by students and answered by me during class is included in your DVD.
What people are saying...
"I wanted to thank you so much for your class. I have really enjoyed this! I am only on week 2, so I will have plenty to keep working on. I know that I paid for the class, but I really feel like you have given me a wonderful gift. I feel like I have permission to put more of myself into my work. Like I found a new layer of myself, so to speak." - Dina
" I am sad this is over but I've learned SO much from you and I've loved each and every lesson. This cardboard book technique, of yours, blows me away and when I first read there was sewing, I shied away a bit. I'm so glad I stuck, with it, as I can do this. You've helped me realize I can!
I look forward to your book and also another online workshop which I will sign up as soon as I get the notice." - Marilyn
"Words can't express how much I've loved your class, Katie. Your raw, organic style is incredibly beautiful. You give your students permission to create flawed, imperfect art...I feel right at home in that creative place, because I'm also so very flawed and imperfect. I will keep on painting intuitively and from the heart, thanks to you. (And I can't wait to take a future online class from you!)" - Sherri
"i am thrilled beyond measure, joyful, completely unleashed! i loved every part of this experience, you offer such a feeling of safety, comfort and understandable direction. i never really knew i could paint. it always seemed more like a mystical language only certain people could master. you have opened the floodgates for me and i am eternally grateful! you have given me a rich language of expression where all i really need to do is trust and be. what a gift you have in opening doors in the lives of others." - Rebecca
"Smiles to you Katie...I join painted fingers and hands with all who have gone on this journey, with you guiding the way. We have all learned a great deal, another way to let our creative rays shine, and open new doors to self expression. It is refreshing that you have absorb many ways of painting and found your own unique voice. There is not a duplicate of you to be found. Such a gift. I think that nothing would intimidate you, you would find the way to do it Katie's Way!
You have a calm presence that comes through your videos. Viewers know that they can do it, because you lead gently. You are thorough. After any of your videos I had no doubt how to go about what you were teaching. Using close ups at all times avoids distractions allowing viewers to really see how you are working. We saw how you think through a painting, how to work things out, to not be afraid of outcomes, to rework if necessary. These are all skills of an excellent teacher. You have done a magnificent job. " - Sharon
"You can count on me for the 2012 workshops! I love every video you gave us, so instructive creative and full of life. i'm happy beyond words. " - Alexandra
"I have always admired your art and now I see how many layers you do put into them to get such rich expressive images. There were many times I wanted to say "wait don't paint over that, it is a fine face already", or "But I liked those colours". Yet every time what emerged at the end was indeed the most fitting and was beautiful.
I am going to the beach with an artist friend in the last week in October, supplies in tow. That will be my proving ground, can I play like Katie? Can I go deep without being so focused? Art is a meditation for me and I am going to see if I can adopt your style of working for a while...I hope to be cloud-gazing for months to come."
"I so enjoyed this workshop and am thrilled with my new bag of tricks, so to speak. I've taken a variety of mixed media and collage web courses and this one is by far my favorite. Perhaps it is your inviting style of teaching... What I thought was very well done were the videos. They were not too long and I felt like I was standing right next to you. The course content was diverse easily to comprehend. I also enjoyed your very laid back style and intuitive approach to your work. I've always felt insecure working so intuitively but not anymore. I've felt inferior because my work may not be received like a more traditional artists work would, but not anymore. Thank you for your encouragement along the way. I am more confident in my work and further along my path." - Kathy
"It has been such a pleasure to take a class with you Katie. You can't know how wonderful it is for someone like me who lives in a small, remote part of New Mexico, during farming season, to be able to take a class from my home office and to continue to grow creatively and bounce things off other enthusiastic artist. You are an excellent, and concise teacher who covers things succinctly without boring dialog, yet encouraging snippets and statements that really stick with me as I take on a new creative task. Thank you so much for the time and effort and love you've put into the lessons!" - Peggy
" Thank-you Katie for being fearless." - M.
"Thank you for sharing with all of us and thank you for inspiring me to reach out and try new things, to become a better artist, but most of all . . . to trust my own instincts." - Donna
"Thank you for taking me along on one of the best creative journeys I have ever been on in a long time. The best class and teacher of 2011!!!" - Mary
"What an experience... a bombardment of possibilities! I loved the glimpse inside your mind as you worked, the peek into thought processes that make your work uniquely your own. Thanks for putting yourself out there so that we may all grow into our own art." - Kathy K.
"Thank you for your thoughtfulness in presenting new materials and for encouraging us along the way. I am working thru the lessons (I'm slow! lol) and finding my rhythym along the way. I will very much look forward to your future classes." - Melissa
"Hi there Katie! I just wanted to let you know that I take a lot of online classes and in my opinion, this is by far the most comprehensive and unique I've taken yet....especially for the price.
You offered so much new information and so many new techniques that I'll be busy for a very long time experimenting with them all! I look forward to your new book AND the 2012 workshops....thank you for your generosity and thoughtful teaching!" - Tracie
