i haven't written words yet, there will be a few
is it a ladder or a train track? do they hear something? or is it what they see just beyond the edge...
This is what we had for dinner last night - the yum of yums comfort food, homemade macaroni and cheese. The Gluten Free Goddess has become one of my favorite cooking blogs now that i'm wheat and glueten free; karina's recipes are so delicious that wheat eaters won't even know the difference. I love being able to go out to the garden and pick fresh herbs and vegies for meals now - a thrill i never tire of.
I was out early this morning watering and weeding, a quiet time with only the sound of birds, a dog now and then, and the neighbors rooster in the distance. i heard a chorus of honking in the distance and looked up to see a flock of Canadian geese approaching.
As they flew over the sound of their wings was almost palpable, i felt like i could almost feel the breeze they created as they flew by. I always think of my dad when i see geese. For most of the years I was growing up he hunted, especially birds - geese, ducks, and pheasants. As he grew old, he developed a dislike for hunting, especially the geese, as he told me they mated for life. It's always a joy to see a flock of birds...
my harvest for the day
beautiful broccolli - we just started harvesting this week
the chard so beautiful in the early morning light
by Halloween, these pumpkins will be big and bright orange, ready for the grandkids to come pick
in another week I'll be making my first batch of pickles
Today I have a list of household chores, i look forward to checking a few off. I'm getting the guest rooms ready for a visit from Marissa, Mick and baby Jackson. And big brother Brody, their golden retriever. We'll be homebase as they wander about Puget Sound, the pennisula, Seattle, and British Columbia. This is the perfect time of year to visit the Pacific Northwest and they'll be getting some wonderful weather for their adventures. Until next time, enjoy all the moments!
