a spread in one of my cardbook books
Wowza! - it's hard to believe so much time has passed since I wrote here last. I certainly had the best of intentions, I just got caught up in the business of my life right now.
So, let me fill in at least a few of the gaps...I just spent all of last week in Cincinnati doing a photoshoot for my upcoming book (due to be released in December) for Northlight Press. It was an amazing experience for me, truly, and like a dear friend said, who has been through this before - twice - "by Friday morning, you've amazed yourself, right?" Truly. Even with some freak occurences that threw me off my game initially: one day less to work than planned due to a holiday, one of my FedEX boxes an entire project and supplies for it missing and only partially found, and a snow storm. And even with all of that, we (my creative team that included Tonia my editor and Christine, photographer extraordinaire) managed to get everything done and photographed, and in record time if I do say so myself!
So now I'm home and I'm resting and doing exactly what I want to for a few days - a reward I've given myself and I'm savoring every moment! I just finished reading Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, one of my very favorite authors. I'm re-reading her book Animal Dreams then will start on Pigs in Heaven which I've not yet read.
And I'm honored to be the featured artist over at Creative Therapy, where my prompt for artwork was "my word or focus for 2011". Go check it out, very cool blog!
And, more good news for me, I'm featured in the newest issue of Art Doll Quarterly, Spring 2011 where I explain how I make my quirkie softies.
I plan on checking in here a lot more frequently now that I can once again show art that I'm working on. That was one of the hardest things for me while I was working on the book artwork, it was top secret.
okay, later gater.
