Took a stroll with my camera this morning so I can share a bit of what I see in my world lately. Here you see the garden, healthy flowering potato plants, both red and gold; tomatoes behind them - 5 heirloom varieties - and beans, squash, and cucumbers behind them. I just made a new planting for fall: 3 kinds of beets, arugula, spinich, swiss chard, and gourmet lettuce. This is turning out to be a good year for gardens.
open pollinated broccolli, i can almost taste it...
our early apple tree, transparent, is loaded this year. it won't be long now till the first apple pie
Hopefully i'll be able to make lots of blackberry jam this year.
Someone keeps sending me telepathic messages through his ball the whole time i'm walking around
Our composting system - love! The metal garbage can is punched out with holes in the bottom and sides and buried in the ground covering all the holes. We throw our table scraps in and throw in a layer of leaves or grass, put the lid back on, and wait a year till it's cooked and we put in into the garden. When one gets full, we start another.
my little guardian of the parsley
working 24-7 without a complaint
mother swallow is diligently sitting on the eggs. see the horse hairs sticking out, plucked from the horses next door I presume. we've had the same family come for years, they no longer swoop at us or feel threatened even though this nest is right above our front steps.
and it's been ever so long since i shared my art
so here are a couple journal pages i just finished. it's always a journey, isn't it? i have been in a "middle space" these past months, not quite anywhere and not feeling grounded. relaxing about it takes daily vigilance and mostly remembering to
